As part of our quality and accreditation efforts, a Dual Major and Minor Protocol has been signed between the Journalism, Radio, Television, and Cinema Department and the Public Relations and Marketing Department. The protocol clarifies the course loads and credit transfer processes that students admitted to the program must complete to graduate.

At our faculty, representatives from the Journalism Department, the Radio, Television, and Cinema Department, and the Public Relations and Promotion Department came together to establish a Dual Major and Minor Protocol aimed at strengthening collaboration. The protocol was signed by Dr. Ali Karakaya, Chair of the Journalism Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasin Söğüt, Chair of the Radio, Television, and Cinema Department; and Prof. Dr. Murat Güreşçi, Chair of the Public Relations and Advertising Department.

Implemented as part of quality and accreditation efforts involving internal stakeholders, the protocol outlines the course load requirements that students eligible for dual major and minor programs must take and complete during their graduation process. The scope of the protocol covers the procedures and principles regarding dual major and minor programs to be carried out through the collaboration of the three departments.

The protocol also emphasizes that students are required to fulfill graduation requirements based on the curriculum in effect as of the date they complete their final registration. The oversight of this obligation and the course equivalency/exemption processes is carried out by the Equivalency Commission, composed of representatives from the relevant departments; the evaluation process is completed within 10 days of the student’s file being submitted to the commission and the results are reported to the Office of Student Affairs. It is noted that even if the curriculum changes, the curriculum in effect at the time of the student’s enrollment is used as the basis. The aforementioned protocol was prepared in accordance with YÖK’s regulations on transfer, dual major, minor, and credit transfer, as well as the faculty’s procedures and principles.
