The production team of the film “Gülümse,” which won the “Best Short Film” award at the Trabzon Film Festival Student Short Film Competition, was received by Giresun University Rector Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Can at the Rector's Office.
The production team, consisting of third-year students from our Faculty’s Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, gathered at the rector’s office following their first-place victory at the Trabzon Film Festival, at the special invitation of Rector Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Can. Also present at the meeting were Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yağbasan, Dean of the Tirebolu Faculty of Communication; Dr. Zafer Akar, the film’s academic advisor; and Dr. Elif Çanğa Bayer, Coordinator of Scientific, Social Activities, and Publications for the Department.
Rector Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Can congratulated the film’s production team, led by director Yasin Kurt, noting that this achievement is a great source of pride for both our university and the Tirebolu Faculty of Communication. Rector Can also emphasized that the students’ original works, which represent Giresun University at the national level, highlight the faculty’s educational quality and artistic vision.
During the reception, the significance of the award won by the film “Gülümse” for its narrative style, technical proficiency, and cohesive structure was highlighted. The production team included director Yasin Kurt, as well as Osman Çağrı Kurt, Canan Cüni, Mustafa Sakarya, Ahmet Salih Uzunboy, and Beyza Tekin.
The reception at the Rector’s Office concluded with an encouragement for students to continue producing original projects throughout their academic education and to bring their achievements to broader platforms.
